Footage of a white couple being thrashed outside a jazz music festival by a black mob is sparking outrage, with city and state leaders condemning the shocking violence.
Video shot by a bystander outside the Cincinnati Jazz Festival late Friday showed a white man walking on the sidewalk being pushed and punched by a number of black males.

After he’s tackled on to the ground in the middle of a city street, both black men and women began punching and kicking him, striking him with numerous blows to his head.
The onslaught continued for several seconds, as multiple men came and struck the man as he lied on the street unable to defend himself, fiercely hitting him as he stumbled and tried to get up.
As that altercation died down, a white woman near the man could be seen arguing with several black people before two black women assault her and a black man smacks her dead in the face with a haymaker, knocking her out cold.
After she fell backward onto the pavement, the woman’s eyes were still open, and blood spilled from her mouth as people attempted to help her regain consciousness.
The footage ends with the stunned woman sitting up as people came to her aid. It’s unclear if the pair of white people knew each other.
Law enforcement and city leaders, including Vice President JD Vance’s half-brother Cory Bowman, a Cincinnati mayoral candidate, condemned the violence.
“This is trickle-down incompetence from the Mayor, City Manager, the majority of the City Council, the Police Chief, and their advisors. Good people in the city, government, and police department are demoralized, feeling there’s no hope for change,” Bowman said.
Bowman added many of the individuals who took part in the assault were teens who were merely taken to “curfew centers,” and – rather than being processed – were later allowed to leave with their parents.
Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge issued a message Saturday stating, “I am in complete disgust waking up to the viral video many of you have now seen. The behavior displayed is nothing short of cruel and absolutely unacceptable. Our investigative team is working diligently to identify every individual involved in causing harm.”
She added the brawl had nothing to do with the festival and described it as a “sudden dispute between individuals following a verbal altercation.”
The president of the Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police, Ken Kober, similarly criticized the violence, telling WLWT, “The violence this video shows downtown is disgusting… What’s equally disgusting is those who chose to watch and record instead of calling 911, attempting to defuse the situation or render aid. I have full faith in the Central Business Section Investigators they will make arrests in the near future. It will then be the responsibility of the court system to hold these violent thugs accountable.”
Cincinnati City Council member Mark Jeffreys also rebuked the incident, stating, “This incident is horrible. It is inhumane. This does not and cannot represent who we are as a city.”
Ohio State Rep. Cecil Thomas (D) labeled the video and assault “embarrassing,” and called for anyone with information to come forward.
“It turned my stomach and I was angry and totally embarrassed to see such behavior, especially, during the Music Festival weekend that’s has been historically free of such horrifying violence, not to mention a Reds home game. There are so many visitors from around the country currently in our city,” Thomas said in a statement to WLWT.
“It’s this kind of behavior that makes me wish I was still on the force,” he continued. “It’s unacceptable under any standard and those involved should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Therefore as your State Representative, I trust that there will be a full and complete investigation of this incident by the Cincinnati Police Department and to bring charges against all involved. There’s enough cameras in the area as well as cellphone videos to clearly determine how it started and who all was involved.”
