President Trump has promised “we will retaliate” after two US servicemen and a civilian were killed in an ISIS ambush in Syria.

President Trump spoke to reporters before he headed to the Army-Navy football game in Baltimore.

Later, on Truth Social, he reiterated his comments and praised the victims of the attack as “three Great American Patriots.”

“We mourn the loss of three Great American Patriots in Syria, two soldiers, and one Civilian Interpreter, Trump posted.

“Likewise, we pray for the three injured soldiers who, it has just been confirmed, are doing well. This was an ISIS attack against the U.S., and Syria, in a very dangerous part of Syria, that is not fully controlled by them. The President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is extremely angry and disturbed by this attack. There will be very serious retaliation. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The identities of the victims have yet to be released.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the victim’s identities would not be revealed until 24 hours after their families had been notified.

American troops were on a field patrol with Syrian forces near the city of Palmyra when they were attacked. Three Syrian soldiers were also injured.

The lone ISIS gunman was killed.

The shooting “took place in an area where the Syrian President does not have control,” a Pentagon official revealed.

The shooting took place after Syria’s interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa met with President Trump at the White House.

Al-Sharaa became president after the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad last year.

Al-Sharaa was once a member of Al-Qaeda and was jailed by American forces in Iraq. President Trump removed his status as a global terrorist before meeting him in Washington.
