Police in Germany thwarted an attack planned by foreigners targeting a Bavarian Christmas market, reports claim.

According to German newspaper Bild, three of the five suspects plotting the attack on the market in Lower Bavaria were of Moroccan descent, while the other two were Egyptian and Syrian.

Bild reports that a foreign intelligence service provided a crucial tip that led to the arrests.

Over the past decade, European authorities have had to increase security around Christmas markets following a series of Islamist terror attacks, including one on a Berlin Christmas market in 2016 where 12 people were killed and 56 injured after a Tunisian man who pledged allegiance to ISIS rammed a truck through the crowd.

European authorities have had to increase security around Christmas markets over the past decade following a series of Islamist terror attacks, most notably one at a Berlin Christmas market in 2016 where 12 people were killed and 56 injured after an ISIS-aligned Tunisian man rammed a truck into the crowd.

Islamist terrorists targeting “infidel” holiday gatherings – while simultaneously being welcomed by politically correct “diversity is our strength” open-border E.U. supporters – have given rise to the bitterly ironic “truck of peace” meme.
