Activist and former talk show host Montel Williams joined CNN this week where he bizarrely claimed Charlie Kirk’s assassin Tyler Robinson acted out of love for his trans boyfriend and not for political reasons.
“Talk about a love-torn child, a kid.” Williams said of the 22-year-old killer. “This is probably his first real relationship and somebody was disparaging the person that he loved.”
First, the left tried to convince us the man who killed Charlie Kirk was a conservative. That failed.

Now, we're seeing multiple attempts to frame this as some transgender love story. ENOUGH.
It's time to accept the glaring truth that is staring you right in the face. pic.twitter.com/umjLwhGMGt
The ex-talk show host said Robinson sat on the roof of the building for thirty minutes before he fired his shot, asking, “Why did he wait until the first word trans came up, then he took the shot? I think he could hear it. I think also, I don’t believe he was motivated politically. I think this was motivated emotionally.
Interjecting, CNN Senior Political Commentator Scott Jennings said, “Guys. The evidence here is overwhelming. He said. ‘Charlie Kirk, I can’t stand his hate anymore. I’m gonna take him out.’ The testimony and statements from his family; he had become more left-wing. He etched the statements that are made by the left about Republicans and conservatives and Charlie Kirk, ‘fascist,’ on the bullet casings.”
Williams responded, “He made a joke about it in his last text,” and Jennings said, “It doesn’t sound like a joke to me because somebody’s dead and about to buried. So, it doesn’t sound like a joke to me.”
“So, there was an effort all weekend long to try to make this guy sound like he was a conservative. That failed,” Jennings continued. “That was passed around all over the weekend. That has now failed. The evidence has now come out, he was motivated by hate. He was motivated by left-wing radicalism. He got mixed up with some trans ideology in his life.”
The CNN reporter then accused leftists of looking around the edges of the situation for something other than what’s staring them in the face, which is that left-wing radicalism convinced the young man to go on that roof and murder Charlie Kirk.
Williams’ odd remark comes amid other Democrat operatives echoing similar talking points, such as an ABC journalist referring to intimate text messages between Robinson and his transgender lover Lance Twiggs as “touching.”
After obtaining access to the conversation during a press conference, an ABC reporter said Robinson detailed the “murder weapon, where it was hidden, how it was placed and what was on it,” in addition to calling the messages “very touching in a way that I think many of us didn’t expect.”
He called the chat an “intimate portrait into this relationship between the suspect’s roommate and the suspect himself, with him repeatedly calling his roommate who is transitioning, calling him ‘my love’ and ‘I want to protect you my love.’”
The ABC employee said there was a “duality” between someone who “jeopardized the life of Charlie Kirk and the crowd” in front of children while “on the other hand” speaking “so lovingly about his partner.”
Democrats are bending over backwards to avoid responsibility for their hateful rhetoric.
