On Tuesday Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley revealed records demonstrating political weaponization and misconduct by former President Joe Biden’s FBI.
Tuesday’s oversight hearing can be watched here and the Arctic Frost documents can be viewed here and here. The operation was similar to the one President Barack Obama’s FBI launched against Infowars in 2013 and the Russiagate witch-hunt deployed against Trump soon after.
Biden’s FBI had initiated a 2020-election-related investigation into Trump in 2022. The investigation swept up dozens of Republican groups and organizations. Arctic Frost had an alarmingly expansive scope and included over 150 interviews, over 400 subpoenas and numerous search warrants for electronic devices and online services.
Arctic Frost centered around the false premise that the Republican Party and its biggest supporters were engaged in an electoral coup for questioning the results of the contested 2020 election, and that the legal effort to audit the ballots and investigate the voting irregularities was tantamount to treason.
“Investigation into the multifaceted conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential Election so that former President Trump could remain in office,” the unclassified Arctic Frost document said. “This conspiracy involved subjects from the private sector, in numerous battleground states (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Mexico, and Arizona), the Department of Justice (DOJ, and the White House.”

Newly-disclosed FBI emails provided by legally protected whistleblowers show:
- Officials in the Biden White House, including then-White House Deputy Counsel Jonathan Su, personally assisted the FBI in securing the government cell phones of President Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence. The cell phones were acquired before Trump was formally added as a subject of the investigation.
- Prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. – including U.S. Attorney Thomas Windom, who later joined Jack Smith’s team as a main attorney – coordinated extensively with FBI agents in the Washington Field Office to plan, approve and execute Arctic Frost.
- Further evidence anti-Trump FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Timothy Thibault played a central role in opening and advancing the Arctic Frost investigation, despite other agents’ concerns that the evidence only supported a limited preliminary investigation.
“In other words, Arctic Frost wasn’t just a case to politically investigate Trump,” Grassley said. “It was a vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and Department of Justice prosecutors could achieve their partisan ends and improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus.”
“Arctic Frost is a joint investigation between FBI, DOJ Office of Inspector General (OIG), U.S. Postal Inspection,” the unclassified Arctic Frost document said. “Service, and National Archives and Records Administration (OIG). The case was opened in April 2022 and in November 2022 was assigned to Special Counsel Jack Smith.”

Grassley has released a number of bombshell documents in 2025, which he touched on in Tuesday’s hearing.
“…we get to the Clinton Annex and Durham Annex. The Clinton Annex showed that the Comey FBI had evidence necessary to complete the Clinton investigation – the one about her mishandling emails and classified information – but the FBI never reviewed that evidence at that time,” Grassley said in his opening remarks. “The Durham Annex showed that the Clinton Campaign had a plan to falsely tie Trump to Russia.”
