Update: The crowd of unruly leftists gathered at the scene of the incident has rapidly grown.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were violently assaulted on Saturday morning when 10 cars rammed into a Border Patrol vehicle before the agents opened fire on one of the attackers who was armed with a semi-automatic weapon.
A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) press release stated, “This morning, Border Patrol agents were conducting a routine patrol, near the intersection of 39th Place and S. Kedzie Avenue, when they were attacked and rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars. The officers exited their trapped vehicle, when a suspect tried to run them over, forcing the officers to fire defensively. This is an evolving situation. FBI is on the scene.”
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin posted on š, “Agents were unable to move their vehicles and exited the car. One of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed US citizen who drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds.”
“The armed woman was named in a CBP intelligence bulletin last week for doxing agents and posting online āHey to all my gang letās fuck those mother fuckers up, donāt let them take anyone,'” she added.
McLaughlin noted that no law enforcement agents were seriously injured, and that Democrat Illinois Governor JB Pritzkerās Chicago Police Department left the shooting scene and refused to assist in securing the area.
Soon after the incident, several people waving Mexican flags began protesting at the location where the shooting occurred.
Federal agents reportedly sprayed the unruly crowd with pepper balls and tear gas.
