GOP Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie brought attention to the Trump administration’s threats against members of Congress considering voting for releasing all of the government’s Epstein files, with the White House saying the lawmakers would be engaging in “a very hostile act.”
“White House says helping me secure a vote to release all the Epstein files is a ‘Hostile Act.’ They’re threatening anyone who helps bring true transparency and justice for the survivors. This is a tacit admission the Oversight Committee data release is woefully incomplete,” Massie wrote on 𝕏 Wednesday.
The White House comment came from an NBC News article where a Trump official told the outlet any GOP politicians “helping Thomas Massie and Liberal Democrats with their attention-seeking, while the DOJ is fully supporting a more comprehensive file release effort from the Oversight Committee, would be viewed as a very hostile act to the administration.”

On Tuesday, Rep. Massie filed a discharge petition to force a House vote on releasing the Epstein files.
Over 134 House members signed the petition within two hours, with Massie thanking Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for backing his proposal.
Massie also held a press conference featuring Epstein victims speaking out and asking for transparency from the government.
The Epstein survivors announced they’ll be releasing a list of names of people known to be in the circle of the deceased pedophile.
Ex-Democrat President Bill Clinton was named by one victim as a notable person who accompanied Epstein on a trip to Africa.
During an NBC News panel discussion ahead of the press conference, the victims said Donald Trump was never seen doing anything inappropriate with the girls Epstein was trafficking, nor did they hear about the president participating in any of the illicit activities.
Responding to the press conference and Massie’s petition on Wednesday, Trump again referred to the Epstein situation as “a Democrat hoax” and said it’s “totally irrelevant to the success that we’ve had as a nation since I’ve been president.”
POTUS also said the DOJ released thousands of files, but complained it would never be good enough for many members of the public.
Massie said it’s shameful that Trump continues to call the Epstein files a hoax.
While the House Oversight Committee did release 33,295 pages of Epstein files provided to them by the DOJ on Tuesday, the vast majority of the documents were already publicly available and the information was released in individual image files, making it difficult to sort through the data.
Despite the president’s attempts to downplay the Epstein saga, the public is not going to quiet down until more information is released and culprits are brought to justice.
