GOP Texas Congressman Wesley Hunt schooled liberal comedian and late-night host Bill Maher on Friday while discussing President Trump’s recent military parade, the president’s treatment of U.S. service members, January 6th and more.
During the “Real Time With Bill Maher” broadcast, Hunt, who is also an Army veteran and West Point graduate, countered the show host’s claim that POTUS’ military parade was “vaguely fascist.
“It was the 250th birthday of our United States Army,” Hunt said, noting he served the nation as an Apache helicopter pilot, his brother and sister went to West Point and his great-great grandfather fought in the Civil War.
On Friday night, Rep. Hunt appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher—and delivered a knockout moment.

Maher said, “Do I think it was a good idea to have a parade? No, but if you’re going to have a vaguely fascist parade, do it right.”
“You know what I saw?” Hunt responded. “I saw… pic.twitter.com/imEpy915ny
Speaking about the parade, Hunt said, “I saw the president salute the corps of cadets as they walked past him. I watched him salute the 75th Ranger Regiment as they walked past him. I sat there and watched the fireworks behind the Washington Monument. And you know what I thought? Damn, that’s absolutely outstanding.”
The Texas congressman continued to point out the drastic difference between President Trump celebrating the armed forces and Sleepy Joe Biden “checking his watch when bodies were being returned to Dover” is why Democrats are losing right now.
Hunt said the patriotism he saw while growing up and attending similar parades is what inspired him to serve in the U.S. military and that Trump is bringing that love of country back.
Democrat strategist, former advisor to President Bill Clinton and current CNN contributor Paul Begala later slammed President Trump for saying ex-U.S. Senator John McCain “was not a war hero” and pushed the false claim that Trump called U.S. troops “suckers and losers.”
“That’s been proven false,” Hunt said.
Hunt wasn’t done, though. Paul Begala claimed Trump “pisses on our veterans”—then got shut down when Hunt raised this one important fact.

When Begala accused POTUS of pissing “on our veterans and our military every day,” Hunt responded, “No he does not,” and asked why military recruitment numbers are higher than they’ve been in years and why service members overwhelmingly support Trump over Democrats like Joe Biden.
After Maher brought up January 6th and called it an “insurrection,” Rep. Hunt said, “How do you have an insurrection with no guns though, Bill? That’s like making coffee with no beans.”
Maher usually refers to January 6 as an “insurrection” without pushback. It’s happened a thousand times, but not today.@WesleyHuntTX rose to the moment and asked, “How do you have an insurrection with no guns?”

Congressman Hunt went on to compare Jan. 6 with the “summer of love” George Floyd riots that took place in the months before the infamous Capitol debacle and took the lives of 22 Americans.
The Republican politician’s rebuttal of Democrat narratives and lies is being celebrated with conservatives sharing the show segments widely online.
