A Texas sheriff has expressed ‘deep concern’ after catching Mexican minors sneaking into a desolate region of West Texas this week.

During the early hours of Wednesday morning, Terrell County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies and U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agents encountered a group of five illegal border crossers in the desert.

They were all wearing camouflage jackets and had presumably crossed the Rio Grande under circumstances that remain unclear.

They were identified as a 13-year-old girl, two 14-year-old boys, and two adult males, ages 18 and 30.

All five said they were from the Mexican state of Guerrero.

“Encountering juveniles crossing the desert at night in Terrell County is rare and deeply concerning,” Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland stated.

“It shows how dangerous these crossings have become and why enforcement remains critical.”

As a veteran Border Patrol agent of 26 years, Sheriff Cleveland treats his current position on the nation’s southern frontier as one of utmost importance in protecting not only local residents, but the country as a whole.

“Life along the U.S./Mexico border is starkly different than it was during the Biden administration, but we still see people attempting to cross illegally. This apprehension demonstrates that it takes federal, state, and local law enforcement working together to accomplish a safe and secure border,” Sheriff Cleveland told immigration news outlet Border Hawk.

Illegal alien deaths in remote Terrell County surged 1,000% during the Biden era, as we previously reported.
