Image Credit: ICE An international fugitive who allegedly killed a Christian pastor in his home country before fleeing to the United States has been apprehended in New England, federal authorities say.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just announced details of the arrest, which unfolded on Mar. 10 in Connecticut, a sanctuary state.
Salvadoran national Danny Granados-Garcia illegally crossed the southern border into Texas’ Rio Grande Valley in May 2016.
U.S. Border Patrol apprehended Granados-Garcia, who claimed to be underage at the time, and subsequently unleashed him into the country under lax Obama border policies.
Authorities in El Salvador had previously issued a warrant for Granados-Garcia’s arrest for his alleged involvement in an MS-13 gang murder of a pastor there.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), working alongside the FBI, tracked Granados-Garcia down and took him into custody in Waterbury.
“Thanks to ICE, this MS-13 gang member wanted for murdering a pastor in his home country is off Connecticut streets. This is an example of an arrest the media counts as a ‘non-criminal’ because he lacks a rap sheet in the United States. This is an insane categorization and just one example of the countless ‘non-criminals’ who are public safety threats that ICE is removing from our communities every single day,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
“70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens convicted or charged with a crime in the U.S.”
Last week, we reported on the arrest of an MS-13 executioner known as “The Witch” who was caught in the sanctuary state of California in late March.
The State Department designated Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) a Foreign Terrorist Organization last year.
