Fewer than a dozen illegal crossings were detected and thwarted during a 24-hour span at the southern border this weekend.
Border Czar Tom Homan made the stunning revelation during a speech at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit on Saturday evening.
“How many people crossed the southern border yesterday?” Homan quizzed the crowd.
“It was 15,000 under Biden on some days. Yesterday, nine were arrested at the border and immediately returned.”
Homan added that there were also 11 known gotaways on Friday, in contrast with roughly 1,800 per day during the Biden era.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, we have the most secure border in the history of this nation and we did that in seven weeks,” he said.
“Sex trafficking has plummeted because of border security. Fentanyl overdose deaths have plummeted in this country because we have a secure border.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has removed more than 150,000 illegal aliens from the U.S. this year, and Homan indicated he expects the pace to pick up significantly thanks to a massive injection of funding.
“I get a lot of mail saying, ‘Homan that’s not enough. We want more arrests. We want more deported.’ Well, let me tell you this: we got the Big, Beautiful Bill. You think we’re doing good now? Just wait to see what happens,” Homan stated.
Last month, U.S. Border Patrol recorded just 6,070 apprehensions on the southern border and 8,039 nationwide, new historic lows.
In total, Customs and Border Protection reported only 25,243 encounters – the lowest number since the agency was formed in 2002.
