An illegal alien who slipped into the U.S. undetected has been charged with killing a woman in Florida last week, authorities say.
On Aug. 31, Sarasota Police Department (SPD) officers arrived at the scene of a shooting at around 3:15 a.m.
Groups of people “were in a fight” at an outdoor location near several Mexican restaurants when a man drew a firearm and discharged multiple rounds, striking two individuals, SPD explained in a press release.
Jessica Lillo, 36, died at the scene while a male victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Witnesses held the suspect at the scene until law enforcement took him into custody.
Grevil Vicente Bonilla Enamorado, a 29-year-old resident of Bradenton, was charged with homicide and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer against Bonilla Enamorado while investigating his status in the U.S.
ICE has now confirmed Bonilla Enamorado is in the country illegally.
“Grevil Vicente Bonilla Enamorado, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras, has been arrested and charged with homicide and aggravated battery with deadly weapon. He entered the United States illegally at an unknown time and place,” ICE told immigration news outlet Border Hawk on Monday.
