Following liberal backlash over ABC’s decision to pull late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s show off the air, many social media users are pointing out the left’s previous calls to cancel Trump supporters and their joyous celebrations when pro-MAGA Americans were canceled.
The establishment puppet comedian was put on leave after falsely saying Charlie Kirk’s killer Tyler Robinson was part of the “MAGA gang.”
Responding to The Atlantic writer David Frum suggesting the ABC move is akin to Biden hypothetically demanding Fox News fire Greg Gutfeld for not being sufficiently sad about the assault on Paul Pelosi, an š user noted Tucker Carson, Roseanne Barr, Gina Carano, Kevin Sorbo, Tim Allen, Vince Vaughn and J.K. Rowling are just some prior victims of left-wing cancel culture.
In fact, Kimmel himself has been one of the main proponents of cancel culture as he’s pushed for conservatives to be taken off air and celebrated when they were.
Kimmel mocked pro-Trump comedian Roseanne Barr when her top-rated television show was canceled by ABC.
In 2023, the late-night host’s audience cheered at Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson being fired and he called the news “a delightful shock” before joking that Tucker was a Russian propagandist who poisons “old people’s brains.”
“Will he crawl back up Satan’s fiery b-hole from whence he came?” Kimmel asked.
Kimmel also poked fun at President Trump when he was kicked off Twitter.
Taking cancel culture to the next level during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kimmel joked that people who refused the experimental shots deserved to die.
Roseanne Barr also responded to Frum’s hypothetical post about the Biden admin firing Gutfeld, facetiously writing, “Yeah imagine an administration putting pressure on a television channel to fire a comedian they didnāt like.”
Conservative podcaster Tim Pool posted a screenshot showing CNN host Brian Stelter supporting Roseanne’s show being taken off air.
Pool also thanked Democrat New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for setting the stage for Kimmel’s firing by backing Tucker’s termination.
AOC also previously promoted reining in American media “so they can’t just spew misinformation and disinformation,” which is exactly what Kimmel did.
“It’s one thing to have differing opinions, but it’s another thing entirely to just say things that are false,” she said.
Former vice president and Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris once threatened to use the DOJ to hold social media companies accountable for what users say on their platforms.
“If you profit off of hate, if you act as a megaphone for misinformation or cyberwarfare, if you don’t police your platforms, we are going to hold you accountable as a community,” she said.
Ex-Democrat presidential candidate and Obama Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also called on social media companies to silence the opinions of average Americans using the platforms.
Of course, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Democrat political establishment pressured social media sites to silence and ban tens of thousands of citizens and prominent users who dared to counter the mainstream narratives being pushed at the time.
Before Carlson was removed from Fox, Democrat New York Senator Chuck Schumer demanded the outlet’s owner Rupert Murdoch “stop Tucker Carlson from going on air” for the sake of Democracy.
Political activist April Silverman called out the left for failing to defend free speech when ABC canceled conservative actor Tim Allen’s hit show “Last Man Standing.”
Responding to the Democrat Party posting, “Legalize comedy, free Jimmy Kimmel,” an š user wrote, “Yāall literally tried to cancel Tony Hinchcliffe for telling jokes you didnāt like at a Trump rally last year.”
Popular š account End Wokeness noted the entire liberal media apparatus tried to ruin the life of Catholic high school kids for peacefully smirking in the face of radical left-wing demonstrators.
Democrats also went after a nine-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan by falsely claiming he wore “blackface” when his face paint was black and red.
Replying to MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes posting, “The countries where comedians can’t mock the leader on late night TV are not really ones you want to live in,” an š user called out Democrats for getting comedian Shane Gillis fired from “Saturday Night Live” over a joke about Asians.
Many Americans also noted the left continues to celebrate Infowars founder and host Alex Jones being fined over a billion dollars and having top Democrats try to take away his media empire.
Replying to CNN host S.E. Cupp writing, “This administration is systematically killing free speech, and these capitulating media companies are acting as willing accomplices. Frightening and shameful,” Tim Pool wrote, “Do you have amnesia? Tucker Carslon and Alex Jones would like a word.”
