The Trump administration has announced a new holding facility for illegal aliens in Louisiana.
The ‘Louisiana Lockup’ is the latest partnership with a state government to expand detention capacity for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
ICE will have access to 416 beds at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola Prison.
“Thank you to Governor Landry for his partnership to help remove the worst of the worst out of our country,” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem stated.
“If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in CECOT, Cornhusker Clink, Speedway Slammer, or Louisiana Lockup. Avoid arrest and self deport now using the CBP Home App.”
Noem shared photographs from her visit to Angola Prison, warning criminal illegals that Louisiana Lockup “could be your last stop in America.”
DHS published information about a dozen dangerous illegals apprehended recently by ICE New Orleans as examples of the types of foreign criminals who will be held at the Louisiana Lockup.
All 12 men have been convicted or charged with heinous crimes, including:
- Omar Martinez-Garcia. Mexico. Homicide.
- Rafael Ojeda-Acosta. Cuba. Rape with a weapon and forcible sodomy.
- Humberto Vargas-Lopez. Cuba. Aggravated rape, aggravated burglary, battery with a deadly weapon with serious bodily harm.
- Olvin Rodriguez-Inestroza. Honduras. Child porn and sexual abuse of an animal.
- Edgardo Amador-Rodriguez. Honduras. MS-13 gang member with lengthy rap sheet.
- Julio Lara-Avila. Mexico. Cruelty to children and battery-family violence.
“Criminal illegal aliens beware: Louisiana Lockup is where your time in America ends,” said Gov. Jeff Landry.“
“Louisiana Lockup will give ICE the space it needs to lock up some of the worst criminal illegal aliens—murderers, rapists, pedophiles, drug traffickers, and gang members—so they can no longer threaten our families and communities. This facility fulfills President Trump’s Make America Safe Again promise.”
Last month, DHS launched several new ICE facilities, including the Cornhusker Clink in Nebraska and the Speedway Slammer in Indiana.
An as-yet-unnamed ICE detention center has also been approved in West Tennessee.
On Thursday, a U.S. Appeals Court blocked Judge Kathleen Williams’ order to shut down Alligator Alcatraz, an ICE facility opened in the Florida Everglades in July.
“Victory secured against activist judge who held me in contempt! The 11th Circuit not only blocked Judge Williams’ order to close Alligator Alcatraz, but they blocked her from proceeding with the case until the appeal is complete,” Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier stated in response to the ruling.
