A disturbing thing happened Wednesday after a trans gunman in Minneapolis opened fire on a Catholic school during mass, killing two children.
Instead of asking the nation to pray for the families of the slain victims, the city’s Democrat mayor, Jacob Frey, instead condemned prayer, telling reporters, “And don’t just say this is about ‘thoughts and prayers,’ right now. These kids were literally praying!”
After the presser, Frey’s bizarre attack against prayer was echoed by other Democrats and media figures, undermining the foundational practice central to Christianity at a time when families are in need of religious comfort.
Joe Biden’s former press secretary and MSNBC host Jen Psaki blasted prayer as “not freaking enough.”
Later during her show, she cried alligator tears, while attacking Vice President JD Vance and other Republicans’ calls for prayers.
Democrat Rep. Maxwell Frost (Fla.) went even harder, using an expletive to express his condemnation of Christians’ direct connection to Jesus Christ and God, saying, “Don’t give us your fucking thoughts and prayers.”
MSNBC host Michael Steele agreed with Frey, referring to prayers as “nonsense,” and calling the institution of prayer a “lie.”
And during an evening CNN appearance, Frey reiterated his condemnation of prayers, repeating that they are “not enough.”
Democrats’ messaging is transparent and predictable: they want to leverage the crisis to disarm innocent Americans with gun control laws.
However, that doesn’t give them a pass to attack a core tenet of Christianity, one they admitted the children were taking part in when the tragedy unfolded.
RedState’s Bonchie blasted the “grotesque ghouls” for undercutting the importance of prayer:
Christians pray because they actually believe in the power and importance of prayer. To say it’s “not enough” is to attack the very core of their religion, which is the knowledge that God is enough, no matter what evil manifests in the world. To call prayer a “lie” is to spit in the face of the Christians who were murdered by this mentally ill “transgender” killer.
It is infuriating that the broader left feels so comfortable demeaning Christians, even when they are the target of violent attacks. All the while, they try to claim some moral high ground by insisting that yet another ineffective law will stop deranged people from doing deranged things. Never do they acknowledge the core issue, though.
In fact, rather than acknowledge prayer as a powerful tool to console grieving families, Mayor Frey went so far as to defend the trans community, demanding the public not demonize them.

Imagine taking a steaming dump on the deeply held religious beliefs of the people who were murdered, trashing prayer as meaningless, and then turning around and promoting the “trans community” that produced this murderous psychopath as the real victims. Saying that behavior is beyond the pale doesn’t begin to describe the disgusting insanity of it all.
CNN contributor Scott Jennings slammed leftists’ attacks on prayers, telling panelists, “I think it’s wrong, frankly, to vilify or attack people of faith.”
“You said thoughts and prayers ring hollow. I think thoughts and prayers are the most solid on days of tragedy for people who live their faith every day. And I think on a day like today, particularly in a church community, there are probably people praying harder for comfort today than they have ever prayed in their life.”
