Residents of California are being told to consider wearing face masks in public, as the Covid-19 virus reportedly sweeps the Golden State.
The Los Angeles Times reports officials from at least three different areas are asking people to don the Covid-era facial coverings, citing increased case numbers spotted in wastewater tests.
“California is experiencing a summer COVID wave,” Yolo County Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson said in a press release last month.
The press release recommends people ages 2 and over wear masks indoors:
Yolo County’s Health Officer, Dr. Aimee Sisson, recommends that everybody over age 2 years old, wear a mask around others in indoor public spaces when wastewater levels of SARS-CoV-2 are high. When wastewater levels are medium, Dr. Sisson recommends that individuals at high risk of severe COVID-19 (older adults, people with underlying medical conditions, or people with weakened immune systems) as well as people who come into frequent contact with high-risk individuals, wear masks indoors.
“Wearing a high-quality mask such as an N95, KN95, or KF94 that fits well continues to provide strong protection,” the press release added.
Likewise, “The San Francisco Department of Public Health also is encouraging people ‘to consider wearing a well-fitted mask in crowded indoor spaces, including when traveling, and to stay at home if they feel sick,'” reports the Times.
Sisson’s office went on to “recommend that everybody 6 months and older get vaccinated against COVID-19 annually” — going against a new FDA policy restricting jabs to people with pre-existing conditions or 65 and older, and despite admissions by previous health experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci who admitted the jabs did not prevent infection.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. last week blasted “health experts” who mismanaged the Covid pandemic, telling Fox News, “They got the testing wrong. They got the social distancing wrong, the masks, the school closures that did so much harm to the American people.”
RFK has also previously slammed Fauci’s recommendations on masking.
