A pair of federal judges made rulings this week that further escalated the current split between rogue Democrats and the Trump administration.
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis of Chicago questioned a Customs and Border Protection official about immigration agents using teargas against unruly demonstrators, suggesting they’re violating a previous court order she issued.
“I have a few concerns that the TRO wasn’t being followed,” Ellis said about her prior order while questioning CBP Official Kyle Harvick.
NBC News reported, “Harvick said agents get training in use of physical force, batons, pepper ball launchers and chemical agents such as tear gas. He said CBP policy is to warn a crowd before tear gas is used. ‘I have spoken to my agents. And a warning is given before you deploy gas,’ he said.”
Harvick told the judge that agents were forced to use teargas when rowdy demonstrators blocked a CBP vehicle from leaving during an operation and when a “hostile” crowd gathered around the scene of a car accident where a Border Patrol vehicle collided with a car being chased by officers.
Meanwhile, Chicago-area U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Cummings ruled this week that ICE officers can be arrested for violating his previous orders and arresting illegal migrants at Cook County courthouses.
According to Breitbart, “The judge’s order aimed to prevent what are called ‘collateral arrests’ of people whom ICE officers discover are illegal on the spot. These are migrants that ICE agents come across by happenstance while looking for someone they have a warrant to apprehend.”
“The fair administration of justice requires that courts remain open and accessible, and that litigants and witnesses may appear without fear of civil arrest,” Cummings’ order stated. “One thing seems clear: ICE rousted American citizens from their apartments during the middle of the night and detained them — in zip ties no less — for far longer than the ‘brief’ period authorized by the operative regulation.”
DHS responded with a statement to WBBM-TV, explaining, “We aren’t some medieval kingdom; there are no legal sanctuaries where you can hide and avoid the consequences for breaking the law. Nothing in the Constitution prohibits arresting a lawbreaker where you find them.”
Democrats are doing everything possible to disrupt the Trump administration and cause division while crying it’s the MAGA movement that wants a repeat of the Civil War.
