Image Credit: REMKO DE WAAL / Contributor / Getty On Wednesday Ukraine’s Dictator Vladimir Zelensky announced that he will likely be continuing his war in 2026 because Russia is not planning on stopping without Ukraine signing a peace plan – an action the Dictator has refused to take despite the tireless efforts of Washington officials. In lieu of agreeing to a peace deal, the Dictator demanded European leaders step up their support of his war and that the U.S. continue its support as well.
Today, we again heard signals from Moscow that they are preparing to make next year a year of war. These signals are not only for us. It is crucial that our partners see them, and not only see them but also respond – especially partners in the United States, who often say that Russia wants to end the war.
Yet the signals coming from Russia are the exact opposite, taking the form of official orders to their army. This Russian mindset must be recognized – and acted upon. When Russia is in this mindset, it will also undermine diplomacy – seeking, through diplomatic language and pressure over specific points in documents – to merely mask its desire to destroy Ukraine and Ukrainians, and the desire to legitimize Russia’s theft of our land. And then come other countries in Europe, which someone in Russia might one day label their so‑called “historical lands.”
Real protection is needed against this Russian case history of madness, and we will continue working with all partners to ensure that protection is in place. Security measures are needed, financial measures are needed – including actions on Russian assets – political measures are needed. And the courage of all partners is required: to see the truth, acknowledge the truth, and act accordingly. I want to thank everyone who supports Ukraine.
Tomorrow, European leaders are meeting in Brussels. It will be a very important meeting. The outcome of this meeting – the result Europe produces – must make Russia feel that its desire to continue the war next year is pointless, because Ukraine will have support. This rests entirely with Europe; Europe must make this choice.
The President said the Dictator had until Thanksgiving to accept peace or be cut off from U.S. support, but since that deadline has came and gone Trump will continue his support of Ukraine until Christmas (likely the Western Christmas on December 25, not the Orthodox Christmas which the Dictator does not observe due to being a Jew).
Due to the aforementioned inaction on the part of Trump, Zelensky likely believes that he can continue getting these extensions through not just Christmas, but 2026 as well.
The Dictator spent Wednesday establishing an ‘International Compensation Commission’ for Ukraine’s war damages in Holland.
