Image Credit: MICHAELA STACHE / Contributor / Getty Following the Ukrainian Dictator Vladimir Zelensky trashing the two-day trilateral peace negotiations held in Geneva, Switzerland, the unelected leader again referred to the effort to end the conflict as “shit.” Not only does this statement reflect Zelensky’s opinion toward Russia, the party Ukraine was negotiating with, but also upon the U.S. which mediated the talks.
I don’t need historical shit to end this war and move to diplomacy. Because it’s just a delay tactic. I read no less history books than Putin. And I learned a lot. I know more about his country than he knows about Ukraine. Simply because I have been to Russia – to many cities. And I knew a lot of people there. He has never been to Ukraine this many times. He was only in big cities. I went to small cities. From the northern part to the southern part. Everywhere. I know their mentality. That’s why I don’t want to lose time on all these things. It’s about them. They decided to have such a system. The Russians decided to change themselves. The Russians decided that they needed a new Tsar. It’s up to them.
But there is security. There is a big war waged against us. This is our lives. The only thing that I want to speak about with him is that I think that we need to resolve it in the most successful way. I mean to end this war quickly. That is why I want to speak only about such things.
Hypocritically, after calling Russia’s talking points used in their side of negotiations “shit,” Zelensky then said that “I mean to end this war quickly,” despite trashing the very negotiations that aim to end the war.
Following the first day of negotiations in Geneva on Tuesday the Dictator lashed out at Moscow’s top negotiator at the meeting. This likely hampered peace efforts in the second day or negotiations.
“We don’t have time for all this shit. So we have to decide, and have to finish the war,” Zelensky said, referencing his hatred toward Russia’s top negotiator in Geneva, Vladimir Medinsky, who cited the historical causes for the start of the war.
Medinsky, who refrained from profanity in his summation of the peace process, described the trilateral meeting as “difficult but businesslike.”
After trashing the peace summit before it had even ended, Zelensky waited until after the second day of talks to say the results were not sufficient.
As of today, we cannot say that the outcome of the meetings in Geneva is sufficient. The military representatives discussed certain issues seriously and substantively. However, sensitive political matters, issues of possible compromises, and the necessary meeting of leaders have not yet been sufficiently worked through.
We are counting on the next meeting, and it would be right for it to take place still in February.
Washington mediated the meeting in Geneva on Tuesday and Wednesday, but also directly held talks with Zelensky himself on Saturday in Munich, Germany.
