White House & Kremlin Preparing Secret Peace Plan For Ukraine

The 28 points of the Ukraine peace plan fall into four general categories: peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe and future U.S. relations with Russia and Ukraine.

While Trump and Putin were expected to meet again in October, the meeting was delayed but not canceled. It now appears that this peace plan is what has been in the works in preparation for this upcoming get together.

On Tuesday a secret 28-point peace plan drafted by the United States and Russia to end the Ukraine war was revealed by Axios. The Trump administration is allegedly working directly with Moscow to bring an end to the conflict. This peace plan was reportedly inspired by Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

It appears that Axios is likely referring to the plan as “secret” because it was concocted without the direct influence of Western Europe or Ukraine.

“A top Russian official told Axios he’s optimistic about the plan. It’s not yet clear how Ukraine and its European backers will feel about it,” Axios said.

The 28 points of the Ukraine peace plan fall into four general categories: peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe and future U.S. relations with Russia and Ukraine.

Currently, it’s not clear how this peace plan will go about resolving the territorial disputes in eastern Ukraine, which has been a sticking point for a while now.

“Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff is leading the drafting of the plan and has discussed it extensively with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, a U.S. official said,” according to Axios. “Dmitriev, who runs Russia’s sovereign wealth fund and is also deeply involved in diplomacy over Ukraine, told Axios in an interview on Monday that he spent three days huddled with Witkoff and other members of Trump’s team when Dmitriev visited Miami from Oct. 24-26. Dmitriev expressed optimism about the deal’s chances of success because, unlike past efforts, ‘we feel the Russian position is really being heard’,”

Interesting, Dmitriev told Axios that basic idea of this peace plan was to take the principles President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed at the Pursuing Peace summit in Alaska back in August to produce a proposal that addresses not just the conflict, but also how to restore the U.S.-Russian relationship addresses Moscow’s security concerns.

“It’s actually a much broader framework, basically saying, ‘How do we really bring, finally, lasting security to Europe, not just Ukraine,'” Dmitriev said.

While Trump and Putin were expected to meet again in October, the meeting was delayed but not canceled. It now appears that this peace plan is what has been in the works in preparation for this upcoming get together.

“The U.S. official confirmed the White House had started briefing European officials about the new plan, in addition to the Ukrainians,” Axios said, adding that the official thinks there’s a high likelihood of getting the Europeans and Ukrainians to accept Washington’s peace plan.

Currently, Ukrainian Dictator Vladimir Zelensky is meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

“Bringing the end of the war closer with all our might is Ukraine’s top priority,” Zelensky said, adding that efforts would also focus on resuming prisoner exchanges.
