Image Credit: X screenshot President Donald Trump confirmed that the US military is constructing a large facility below the new White House ballroom, presumably to serve as a bunker in case of emergencies.
Speaking at a press gaggle aboard Air Force One on Sunday night, the president noted details of the secure structure were forced to light due to a lawsuit by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
“Now the military is building a big complex under the ballroom, which has come out recently because of a stupid lawsuit that was filed,” Trump told reporters while holding up a large poster showing a mock-up of the new ballroom.
“But the military is building a massive complex under the ballroom, and that’s under construction and we’re doing very well, so we’re ahead of schedule as part of it… The ballroom essentially becomes a shed for what’s being built under the military, including from drones and including from any other thing.”

The president went on to point out the glass used in the construction of the ballroom’s windows is “extremely thick…bulletproof glass.”
Trump also criticized a New York Times piece over the weekend that claimed the ballroom blueprints were full of structural design errors, including a set of stairs that went nowhere.
“I think The Times wrote, ‘Gee some of the windows are fake.’ We have no fake windows. They said they talked about a stairway on the south – we don’t have a stairway in the south. That was replaced a long time ago.”
Trump’s revelation of the “complex” beneath the ballroom follows a Truth Social post in January where the president pointed out that a lawsuit from the National Trust for Historic Preservation had forced formerly “top secret” information about the underground bunker to be revealed.
