Todd Lyons, acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), had his home address revealed and faced protests and threats before his decision to resign from the agency, Border Czar Tom Homan has revealed.

Lyons will step away from running ICE at the end of May. He announced his resignation earlier this week, but made no mention of any threats to his safety and that of his family.

Homan told Newsmax, “God bless Todd and his family. His family sacrificed a lot. The left has not only attacked him. They doxed his wife and his kids and protested his home and his family, and you know, they deserve a break and I’ll miss him. He’s a friend of mine. I’ll still be friends with him.”

Homan praised Lyons for helping to achieve a “record number of removals in the first year of this administration, despite unprecedented challenges.”

Lyons’ resignation was confirmed on Thursday in a statement from Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.

“Director Lyons has been a great leader of ICE and key player in helping the Trump administration remove murderers, rapists, pedophiles, terrorists, and gang members from American communities. He jumpstarted an agency that had not been allowed to do its job for four years. Thanks to his leadership, American communities are safer,” Mullin said.

At the end of last month, it was revealed that ICE has been purchasing warehouses across the US in order to provide a massive increase in detention capacity.

The purchases will add capacity for more than 90,000 detainees.

The Wall Street Journal reports that ICE “plans to spend $38.3 billion on a new detention model that includes acquiring warehouses and converting them into detention centers.”

ICE has now bought 11 “mostly new or empty” warehouses in recent months.

There are plans to acquire at least two dozens more warehouses and turn them into detention centers and processing sites.

ICE officials now believe most of the sites will be fully operational by the end of 2026.

The new centers will be able to hold between 1,500 and 8,500 detainees. Most of the 300 current facilities can only hold hundreds.
