Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was ambushed with a provocative question by the man who had been speaking to her husband when he was assassinated in September.

At a town hall event chaired by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, Kirk was asked about the relationship between politicians’ rhetoric and political violence in America today.

She was then confronted by Hunter Kozak, a Utah Valley University undergraduate student who has been asking Charlie Kirk a question when he was shot.

Kozak praised Erika Kirk for promoting “unity,” but noticeable failed to offering his condolences for the death of her husband.

He then asked her to condemn President Trump.

“Will you condemn the violent rhetoric of Donald Trump, the most powerful and influential person on Earth?” Kozak asked.

Kirk replied that the issue is “so much more deeper than just one person.”

“This starts at the home, OK? This starts with the family. This starts with a seed that grows and grows. You can choose to have evil in our heart or you can choose to have light. What you consume and what you absorb from the outside world will manifest itself.”

“No, I will never agree with political violence,” Kirk added.

“My husband is a victim of it. I’m a victim of it.”

Earlier in the event, Kirk slammed those who were calling her husband’s death justified, describing them as “sick.”

“He’s a human being. You think he deserved that? Tell that to my 3-year-old daughter.”

“You want to watch in high-res the video of my husband being murdered, and laugh, and say he deserves it? There’s something very sick in your soul, and I’m praying that God saves you,”

On Thursday, Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk, made his first appearance in court.

Robinson appeared in good spirits during the hearing, laughing and joking with his counsel.

Robinson led federal authorities on a 33-hour manhunt before being arrested at the Utah Valley University campus.

He now faces charges including aggravated murder, witness tampering, obstruction, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and committing a violent crime in the presence of a child.

If convicted he could face death by firing squad.
