Comedian Shane Gillis took no prisoners during an ESPYs hosting gig Wednesday, slamming everything from President Donald Trump’s Jeffrey Epstein fiasco to the unpopularity of the WNBA.
At one point, Gillis scored a home run with a topical Epstein joke after striking out with a stale bit about the J6 riot, commenting, “There was supposed to be an Epstein joke here, but – I guess it got deleted. Probably deleted itself, right? Probably never existed, actually. Let’s move on as a country and ignore that.”
In another quip, Gillis got people to applaud the black wife of one of his friends, falsely telling the audience she was a WNBA all-star.
“I’m just joking around; that’s my friend’s wife, I knew none of you knew WNBA players,” Gillis said.
Fired from Saturday Night Live in 2019 over supposedly racist remarks, the edgy comedian has come a long way since being targeted for cancellation by the establishment.
