A human smuggling suspect and two illegal aliens were arrested by U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) in Texas this week.
The bust unfolded at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night near Laredo.
A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) helicopter crew spotted two individuals crossing the Rio Grande on a raft before jumping on a 4-wheeler driven by a third subject.
The smuggler then attempted to drop the illegals off in a residential neighborhood but USBP agents from Laredo South Station intercepted them.
The ATV rider fled into nearby brush but was quickly tracked down and taken into custody.
“Arrested were one U.S. citizen male, one adult male Mexican national, and one adult male Brazilian national,” CBP AMO explained in a statement.
The 4-wheeler was also seized.
Illegal border crossings have plunged to historic lows under the Trump administration.
