Conservative leaning CNN commentator Scott Jennings highlighted the assault of DOGE team member Edward “Big Balls” Coristine this week, noting the attack has enraged Republicans tired of violent crime in the nation’s capital.
Jennings highlighted “The plight of American hero ‘Big Balls’ on Wednesday’s edition of “CNN NewsNight.”

SCOTT JENNINGS: I’m just going to tell you right now: the plight of American hero Big Balls has set off- has set off a firestorm in the Republican Party. This kid- this kid who worked for the DOGE guys, didn’t shut down any diners that I know of, but he goes out on the street, he protects a woman from being attacked by a roving street gang and he had the crap kicked out of him. And, you know, we had a congressional intern murdered not too long ago. I’m just telling you. Republicans right now have about had it with the violence and the idea that you can’t even walk around D.C. right now without getting attacked by street gangs.
Jennings’ rant came as at least two arrests have been made in connection with Coristine’s assault Sunday, where he reportedly stepped in to defend a woman being accosted by a group of teens – an altercation later highlighted by President Donald Trump and Coristine’s former DOGE boss Elon Musk.
Trump on Tuesday called on children as young as 14-years-old to be prosecuted as adults in D.C., threatening that if Democrats didn’t end their soft-on-crime policies he could federalize the city.
Trump also spoke of Coristine at an Executive Order signing Tuesday following his Truth Social post.

Likewise, Musk commented on the brutal assault of his former tech.
“A few days ago, a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in DC,” the billionaire Tesla owner said. “A @Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her.”
Trump on Wednesday said he’d soon make a personal call to Big Balls.
