US forces in the Middle East have carried out further strikes on ISIS targets in Syria, in response to the murder of US service personnel in December.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said US forces in the region conducted ten strikes on 30 targets between 3 February and 12 February.

Manned helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft and drones were used to attack weapons-storage sites and other infrastructure linked to ISIS.

The strikes are part of a broader operation dubbed “Operation Hawkeye Strike” that was launched after two US soldiers and a civilian contractor were killed in Syria, in December.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which was carried out by a lone gunman who was a member of Syria’s security services.

Syria’s Interior Ministry says it has arrested five individuals in connection with the attack.

“More than 50 ISIS terrorists have been killed or captured and over 100 ISIS infrastructure targets have been struck with hundreds of precision munitions during two months of targeted operations,” CENTCOM said on Saturday.
