Image Credit: Screenshot | FOX43 An illegal alien has been charged in connection with the death of a woman who was run over by a construction truck in Pennsylvania last week, according to reports.
The tragedy unfolded just before 9 a.m. on Feb. 4 in Adams County.
The Littlestown Police Department responded to the scene of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle while crossing an intersection, FOX43 reports.
Rebecca Funt, 44, was later pronounced deceased at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover Hospital.
Officers arrested 39-year-old Jose Delio Reyes Lopez, a resident of Frederick, Maryland.
He reportedly remained at the scene and told authorities he had not seen Funt in the crosswalk.
Reyes Lopez was initially hit with several charges, including misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer against Reyes Lopez, who is in the U.S. illegally, although his country of origin remains unclear.
“According to court documents, Reyes Lopez possesses a Maryland license. The Maryland Department of Transportation confirmed to FOX43 that Reyes Lopez was issued a regular Class C non-commercial driver’s license in 2022,” the outlet reports.
