Democrat members of the Texas House who fled the state to block a redistricting bill supported by Republicans had their direct deposit payments halted on Thursday, forcing the politicians to pick up their paychecks in person.
House Speaker Dustin Burrows said in a memorandum, “Direct deposits will be suspended for these members until the House restores a quorum,” adding that representatives who “are present and fulfilling their duties will not be affected – direct deposits for those members will continue as normal.”
🚨 HOLY SMOKES! The Texas House just REVOKED the derelict Democrat lawmakers' access to direct deposit – they CAN'T GET PAID until they step foot back on Texas grounds!

AND – charging them $500 per day they're gone.
Genius. The FBI is also involved.

The state’s Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock agreed with the decision, saying, “I fully support the decision to suspend direct deposit for members who abandon their responsibilities to break quorum. The people of Texas expect their elected officials to show up, do the work, and be accountable.”
“The speaker has taken a firm and appropriate step to enforce that expectation, and our office will uphold this policy without exception. Members who want to be paid need to show up to work at the Capitol — plain and simple,” Hancock continued.
Each Democrat refusing to return to Texas will also be charged $500 for each day they’re gone.
The stubborn Democrats are vowing “to fight” and “march on” despite the Republican pressure campaign, which has also included threats of arrest, major lawsuits and being removed from office.
