President Donald Trump said this week that one of his biggest supporters, journalist Tucker Carlson, is no longer MAGA after the ex-Fox News anchor criticized the administration’s war with Iran.
However, Carlson responded by saying he will always love Trump no matter what POTUS says about him.
ABC News’ Jonathan Karl posted to 𝕏 on Thursday, saying he spoke with the president in a phone call where Trump hit back at Tucker for labeling the Iran war “absolutely disgusting and evil.”
According to Karl, Trump said, “Tucker has lost his way. I knew that a long time ago, and he’s not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America first, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that.”
Carlson told Status News, “There are times I get annoyed with Trump, right now definitely included, but I’ll always love him no matter what he says about me.”
He also told The Free Press reporter Gabe Kaminsky, “I’ll always love Trump, no matter what he says about me. I just think a war with Iran is deeply unwise.”
Former Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene responded to Trump by saying she supports Tucker.
“Trump doesn’t even know what MAGA is anymore and turned it into MIGA. Trump is not America First, he’s donor first. Tucker would beat Trump if he ran for President and Trump tried to violate the constitution and tried to run again for a third term,” she added.
The Trump and Tucker rift comes as POTUS also repeatedly bashes Republicans such as Rep. Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Senator Rand Paul (Ky.), creating a divide among GOP voters.
