President Donald Trump took time Tuesday to slam CNN and MSNBC as “scum” and “fake news” after the networks claimed recent B2 bomber attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities weren’t effective.
“CNN is scum, and so is ‘MSDNC,’ they’re all…and frankly the networks aren’t much better,” Trump told reporters as he prepared to board Marine One ahead of a visit to the NATO summit in the Netherlands.
“It’s all fake news, but they should not have done that,” the president said, criticizing the networks’ claims the strikes missed their targets.
“Those pilots hit their targets, those targets were obliterated, and the pilots should be given credit,” Trump said, noting, “They’re not after the pilots they’re after me.”
The POTUS went on to suggest CNN and MSNBC “ought to apologize to the pilots of the B2s,” adding that “these networks and these cable networks are real losers.”
“You’re gutless losers. I say that to CNN…cause I watch it. I have no choice. I’ve got to watch that garbage. It’s all garbage. It’s all fake news. But I think CNN is a gutless group of people.”
He continued: “And the people that run it, nobody even knows it’s been sold so many times. But the people that run it ought to be ashamed. MSDNC, a guy named Brian Roberts. He heads it. He’s a disgrace. He’s a weak pathetic disgrace.”
During the same presser, Trump commented he was upset Israel launched a bombardment of attacks on Iran as he was attempting to secure a ceasefire, saying, “So, I’m not happy with them. I’m not happy with Iran either. But, I’m really unhappy if Israel is going out this morning because of one rocket that didn’t land that was shot, perhaps by mistake, that didn’t land. We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing. You understand that?”
Trump’s lambasting of the legacy media came as he slammed Dem. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and other squad members over impeachment calls, and bashed “very dumb, hardheaded” Fed Chair Jerome Powell for refusing to lower interest rates.
