Following a spat between President Donald Trump and former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk in early June, the tech billionaire publicly apologized for his harsh statements toward the real estate billionaire. On Sunday Trump signaled that he is also over the feud too.
“I think he [Musk] is a wonderful guy. I have not spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy, and I know he is going to do well always,” the President said Sunday during a Fox News interview. “He is a smart guy. And he actually went and campaigned with me and this and that. But he got a little bit upset, and that was not appropriate.”
Trump discussed how federal policy toward battery powered cars was a contentious subject between the two.
“Look, the electric vehicle mandate, the EV mandate, is a tough thing for him. I would, you know, I do not want everybody to have to have an electric car,” Trump said.
Specifically, Musk’s harsh statements regarded allegations that Trump was affiliated with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk wrote on social media. “That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
That post was later deleted.
Musk took a step to repair the relationship when he posted in support of Trump’s response to the Los Angeles riots. He then officially apologized soon after.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk said.
