President Donald Trump has fired Attorney General Pam Bondi Thursday. The move comes “as his frustration with her job performance deepened,” according to The New York Times.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is now acting attorney general until a replacement is nominated and confirmed.
The President addressed the move in a social media post:
Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Bondi reportedly begged and pleaded to keep her job.
“Attorney General Pam Bondi begged Donald Trump not to fire her in an explosive showdown at the White House after he accused her of an unforgivable offense,” The Daily Mail said. “Trump informed her of the decision shortly before his prime-time Iran war address to the nation, a senior administration source told the Daily Mail. Bondi responded by pleading for the President to give her more time in the role, but Trump remained firm that her time leading the agency was over, the Daily Mail can exclusively reveal.”

President Donald Trump reportedly discussed firing Attorney General Pam Bondi over her handling of the Epstein files and general frustration with her leadership at the Justice Department, four unnamed sources familiar with the matter told The New York Times.
Trump is unhappy that Bondi has not “moved aggressively enough to prosecute his political enemies,” which is something many in the real MAGA base are unhappy with as well.
“But the president has been souring on Ms. Bondi for months. Among his top complaints is Ms. Bondi’s handling of the Epstein files, which has become a political liability for Mr. Trump among his supporters. He has also complained about her shortcomings as a communicator and vented about what he sees as the department’s lack of aggressiveness in going after his foes, according to people who have spoken to him recently,” The New York Times said.
Bondi stands in stark contrast to President-via-autopen Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland who immediately went after Trump’s supporters for the January 6 “fedsurrection.” Garland issued this statement gloating about his relentless prosecutions:
Two years ago, the United States Capitol was attacked as lawmakers met to affirm the results of a presidential election. Perpetrators attacked police officers, targeted and assaulted members of the media, and interfered with a fundamental element of our democracy: the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to the next.
Since then, countless agents, investigators, prosecutors, analysts, and others across the Justice Department have participated in one of the largest, most complex, and most resource-intensive investigations in our history. I am extremely grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and integrity with which they have done this work. This investigation has resulted in the arrest of more than 950 defendants for their alleged roles in the attack. We have secured convictions for a wide range of criminal conduct on January 6 as well as in the days and weeks leading up to the attack. Our work is far from over.
Trump has not yet made a final decision however. He also issued a favorable statement about Bondi as well.
“Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” Trump said in a statement to The New York Times.
After the House Oversight Committee voted to subpoena Bondi to testify about the Epstein files, scheduled for April 14, her and Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer began “working together to avoid the deposition, even though it is unclear whether it is legally possible to withdraw a subpoena.”
Alex Jones and FBI Whistleblower Kyle Seraphin have discussed Bondi’s Epstein file fiasco. She may not be the only one at fault however. In August Seraphin spoke with former high-level FBI agent Kurt Siuzdak who explained that Bondi was set up by FBI insiders to take the fall for the botched Epstein file cover-up.
Constitutional Attorney Robert Barnes discussed Bondi’s role as a sacrificial lamb for the failures of the Justice Department, also discussing the Israeli ties in the Epstein files. Barnes also talked about Bondi’s association with the Chemical Association which has led her to challenge the MAHA agenda.
Trump reportedly “vented about what he sees as the department’s lack of aggressiveness in going after his foes.”
The New York Times discussed Trump’s unwillingness to try new people in administration positions after the existing ones fail to deliver results:
During his second term, Mr. Trump had been hesitant to oust members of his cabinet after his first term was marred by frequent firings and narratives of staff chaos. Some officials said Mr. Trump’s posture had shifted in recent weeks, buoyed by the smooth process of removing Kristi Noem from her role as secretary of homeland security and the straightforward confirmation process of Markwayne Mullin to replace her.
Mr. Trump has sent mixed signals about Ms. Bondi over the last year. He has complained about her privately, arguing that she has not been effective enough in pursuing his priorities. He has been particularly angry about the Justice Department’s failure to win cases involving his political opponents, including against the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey and the New York attorney general, Letitia James.
The President has mulled replacing her with Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, according to the sources:
Mr. Zeldin, a former Republican congressman from New York who unsuccessfully ran to be his state’s governor, has been one of Mr. Trump’s most reliable foot soldiers. As the administrator of the E.P.A., charged with ensuring the protection of human health and the environment, Mr. Zeldin has made it his mission to promote Mr. Trump’s vision of “energy dominance.”
“He’s our secret weapon,” Mr. Trump said of Mr. Zeldin in February at a White House event promoting the coal industry, adding, “He’s getting those approvals done in record setting time.”
