The 22-year-old Omar Y. has been in custody for six months, with the public prosecutor charging him with two rapes, including one of his pregnant wife, who married him under “Islamic law.”
The rape trial is running in the Dresden Regional Court, with the first charge relating to the rape of a 17-year-old woman.
Prosecutor Bettina Ball stated that Omar Y. arranged to meet the victim at Dresden’s Albertplatz, but the teenager did not want to go inside a building with the man.
“Out of annoyance, he decided to meet her in a secluded place,” Ball said.
Omar Y. allegedly arranged to meet the woman on the banks of the Elbe River, near the Albert Bridge. He is accused of raping the young woman on a park bench.
He is also accused of raping his pregnant wife, whom he married on May 2, 2025, under “Islamic law.”
Omar Y. allegedly repeatedly abused and raped the woman, who was an acquaintance of the first 17-year-old victim. He is said to have raped her while she was sleeping and also in the shower.
The wife, who was pregnant, later wanted to remove items from their apartment, at which point, he violently beat her, according to Prosecutor Ball.
The man was later arrested and charged with child pornography that was found on his iPhone 5.
Bild, which covered the story, learned that the man was also accused of illegally filming sexual acts in a separate case. His phone was also reviewed for evidence in that case.
The trial is ongoing.
