Leftist demonstrators gathered outside the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Maple Grove, Minnesota, on Monday night, with several being arrested after engaging in “unlawful activity,” according to the Maple Grove Police Department.
“Property damage occurred and objects were thrown at officers,” reports KARE 11.
“The Maple Grove Police Department respects and upholds the First Amendment rights of individuals to peacefully assemble and express their views. Our priority remains the safety and security of all residents, visitors, and property within our community,” a spokesperson for the police department said, adding, “At that point, the activity was no longer considered peaceful. Individuals participating in criminal acts are not protected under the First Amendment and were subject to arrest.”
Officers eventually deployed an LRAD sound cannon to disperse the rowdy crowd.
A group of men, reportedly immigration officers, were seen standing at the window of a room on the hotel’s top floor cracking open beers and watching the demonstration.
One of the men pulled down his trousers and mooned the unruly leftists.
