Car-ramming attacks against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers increased by a staggering 3,200% in 2025, according to new statistics released by the Department of Homeland Security.
The stats reveal assaults against huge increases in all forms of threats and violence against ICE officers.
Physical assaults rose 1,300%, with ICE reporting 275 assaults compared to 19 in the same period the year before.
Of particular interest, in the wake of the shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis, are the statistics for vehicular assaults, which increased from a mere two incidents in 2024 to 66 in the following year.
There has also been an 8,000% increase in threats directed against immigration agents.
“This unprecedented increase in violence against law enforcement is a direct result of sanctuary politicians and the media creating an environment that demonizes our law enforcement and encourages rampant assaults against them,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
DHS personnel “will not be deterred,” she added, and will continue “arresting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.”
McLaughlin also said that “anyone who attacks law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” and she pointed to statements made by Democrat politicians like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as evidence of escalating rhetoric that puts immigration agents in danger.
Walz referred to ICE as the “modern-day Gestapo” over the summer.
On Wednesday, Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman, was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighbourhood in south Minneapolis.
Good, who is reported to have been a “legal observer” documenting immigration enforcement, blocked the road with her SUV. When asked to move, she attempted to drive away, but was shot by an officer whom she struck with her vehicle.
The President and Vice President have both defended the shooting as self-defense, calling it a “tragedy of [Good’s] own making.”
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem revealed that the officer who shot Good had previously been hit and dragged by an illegal alien attempting to flee apprehension in a vehicle. The officer was seriously injured and required hospitalization.
There have been angry protests across Minneapolis in response to Good’s death, with calls for them to spread nationwide.
