Ohio authorities captured four illegal aliens from Guatemala who were wanted in connection with a murder in New Mexico on New Year’s Day, according to reports.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) was contacted by the Lea County Sheriff’s Office regarding suspects who had fled to the Buckeye State amid an ongoing homicide investigation.

ECSO deputies tracked the suspects down at a motel near Milan Township, and pulled their vehicle over as it departed the property and took four occupants into custody, 13 ABC reports.

Two brothers — identified as Elman Franco, 26, and Elder Franco, 30 — were each charged with murder, robbery, intimidation or retaliation against a witness, kidnapping, and tampering with evidence.

Maylina Santos, 28, was charged with tampering with evidence.

Manuel Morales, 46, was charged in Erie County with three felony counts of obstructing justice.

All four suspects are Guatemalan nationals who were illegally residing in New Mexico, according to Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged detainers against all four.

A fifth suspect, identified as 36-year-old Angel Franco, was arrested in Lea County and charged with felony tampering with evidence.

Authorities say the suspects fled New Mexico following the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Elvis Santos on Jan. 1 in Lovington, NM.

An investigation is ongoing.
