An illegal alien from Nicaragua was caught smuggling fellow illegals last weekend in Texas.

The bust unfolded on the night of Jan. 30 in Maverick County.

Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) troopers pulled over a suspicious Toyota Camry on U.S. 377 and questioned the driver, who claimed he was traveling to San Antonio with “four friends.”

Five occupants were removed from the vehicle, all of whom were in the U.S. illegally, including a Special Interest Alien from China identified as BeiBei Liu, 34.

Three more passengers were identified as Mexican nationals, one of whom was a minor.

Juan Alfonso Merlo Ibarra, 35, was charged with four counts of human smuggling and booked into Maverick County Jail.

The four illegals, several of whom were wearing camouflage, were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol.

Illegal border crossings have plunged to historic lows under the Trump administration.
