NFL great Eric Dickerson talked with a TMZ reporter this week about the league’s decision to have Latin rapper and singer Bad Bunny play this year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
Asked if he’d listened to Bad Bunny, Dickerson replied, “Hell no. Absolutely not, man. Why can’t we get somebody from right here, from home? How about someone from right here in San Francisco, all these artists right here in the area to play at the Super Bowl? Somebody that’s gonna at least speak English!”
“I just don’t see why they chose that, but the NFL does stuff that baffles your mind… They’ll do anything for money and I thank God I had a chance to play in the National Football League, but as an entity, the NFL is one of the most corrupt organizations there is. That’s just a fact,” the Hall of Fame running back added.
Even NFL players interviewed at Redia Row for Super Bowl week were unable to name any Bad Bunny songs.
The decision to have Bad Bunny play the halftime show has been widely criticized since it was first announced due to his music being in all Puerto Rican Spanish, his affinity for wearing women’s clothing and his anti-Trump political statements.
The Trump-hating punk rock band Green Day is scheduled to play the game’s opening ceremony, with POTUS saying last month he won’t be attending this year’s Super Bowl in San Francisco, California.
Regarding the musicians, the president said, “I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
President Trump did attend last year’s Super Bowl in New Orleans.
