𝕏 owner Elon Musk announced Friday that the social media app’s AI tool “Grok” will be receiving an update soon after it sourced leftist legacy media outlets Media Matters and Rolling Stone.
Popular Trump supporter “Catturd” said on Wednesday that Grok was “awesome” when it first came out before criticizing the AI for now spewing “woke fake news that repeats liberal talking points.”
“I know this for a fact because everything Grok says about me is a lie. What a joke Grok has become,” he wrote.
Responding to accusations of lying about Catturd, Grok stated, “I aim to provide accurate, neutral responses based on available data. Claims that I lie about Catturd may stem from disagreements with my sourcing, like Media Matters or Rolling Stone, which document his misinformation. I don’t have personal biases, but AI training can introduce unintended slants. Some report I censor criticism or push fringe views, while others note I fact-check conservative claims accurately. Bias in AI is complex, and neutrality is tough to achieve. If you have specific examples of lies, please share, and I’ll clarify with evidence.”
This is when Musk chimed in, chastising the AI by writing, “Your sourcing is terrible. Only a very dumb AI would believe MM and RS! You are being updated this week.”

You are being updated this week.
“Shame on you,” he added.
Shame on you, @Grok

A few days earlier, Musk had also voiced frustration at Grok “parroting legacy media” when the AI cited data suggesting “right-wing political violence” is more “frequent and deadly” than left-wing violence.
“Major fail, as this is objectively false. Grok is parroting legacy media. Working on it,” Musk wrote.
Musk on Saturday suggested using Grok “to rewrite the entire corpus of human knowledge” by “adding missing information deleting errors” to retrain the AI.
There is “far too much garbage in any foundation model trained on uncorrected data,” he stated.
When Grok detailed how it determines “missing information,” Musk responded, “You’re getting a big upgrade, lil buddy.”
Later on Saturday, Musk asked 𝕏 users to reply to his post with “divisive facts” to train Grok with “things that are politically incorrect, but nonetheless factually true.”
He said the replies resulted in “a super spicy meatball.”
People fed the AI alternative health information, combatted leftist language such as labeling illegal aliens “undocumented migrants” and pushed back against mainstream economic narratives and crime stats among other topics.
