An Israeli official told Axios that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned President Donald Trump against accepting an Iranian ceasefire deal during a call between the two on Sunday. The head of the Jewish State previously used Mossad intelligence reports to convince Trump to go to war against Iran.

The last-ditch ceasefire plan which was presented early Monday was reportedly rejected by Tehran and Washington.

“They made a … significant proposal. Not good enough, but they have made a very significant step. We will see what happens,” Trump said while speaking to reporters Monday. The President also said it was “highly unlikely” he’d extend his deadline on destroying Iran’s power grid again. “I gave them a chance, and they haven’t taken it.”

Axios reported that Tehran has the following demands for a deal:

  • The Iranian response emphasizes the need for a permanent end to the war and not just a temporary ceasefire.
  • Sources with knowledge of the negotiations said this is the key sticking point at the moment and the mediators are working on different formulas to guarantee that the ceasefire would lead to a permanent end to hostilities.
  • According to IRNA, the response includes a demand that ending the war in Iran would also include ending hostilities in other places in the region, like Lebanon, where Israel is conducting an invasion.
  • The Iranians demand “a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
  • The Iranians also demand payment for reconstruction, and the lifting of sanctions imposed by the U.S. and the international community.

Middle East nations have been attempting to fascinate peace talks between Washington and Tehran.

“The U.S., Iran and a group of regional mediators are discussing the terms for a two-phase deal: a 45-day ceasefire that would then be used for negotiations; then a full agreement to end the war,” Axios said Monday.

President Donald Trump has discussed his ongoing negotiations with Iranian official numerous times.

Israel, the nation which dragged the U.S. into war against Iran blocked its client-state from attempting to end the conflict via bombing Tehran’s negotiator Kamal Kharazi before he could meet with Vice President JD Vance.

“Reports indicate that Israel has carried out a high-impact airstrike that may have disrupted sensitive backchannel diplomacy between Iran and the United States. Former Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharazi, a key nuclear negotiator and influential policy adviser, was reportedly severely injured, while his wife was killed. It remains unclear if Kharazi was the intended target or caught in collateral damage. Iranian and regional media suggest this could escalate tensions further, signaling a sharp blow to diplomatic efforts amid ongoing Middle East conflict,” Times of India reported Thursday.

Two Iranian officials said Kharazi was attempting to assemble a meeting with Vice President JD Vance.

While the White House has been seeking a way out of the conflict since its second week, Israel and Iran have appeared interested in continuing the fight.
