U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) just released details of the bust, which unfolded on Saturday in Yuma Sector.
Agents initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious tractor-trailer but the driver refused to pull over.
Officers from other law enforcement agencies deployed a tire deflation device, which neutralized the 18-wheeler.
The driver bailed out and continued fleeing on foot but was quickly apprehended.
“Varinder Singh is an Indian national with an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear in Immigration Court,” USBP explained in a statement.
Singh has been charged with fleeing from law enforcement and being in the country illegally and will also face state charges.
An image shared by USBP indicates Singh had been issued a commercial driver’s license by the state of California.
“Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary state policies are costing American lives. His government knowingly issued thousands of CDLs to illegal aliens who had no business driving at all, let alone behind the wheel of a massive semi-truck,” ICE Deputy Director Madison D. Sheahan stated recently.
“These drivers get their licenses, leave California, then terrorize roads all over the country. ICE is stepping in where his state failed. Just like our operations in Oklahoma and Indiana, we are taking these dangerous illegal alien truckers off the roads and making California streets safe again.”
Foreign truck drivers — many of whom are Indian — are wreaking havoc on U.S. highways, as we frequently report.
