Federal immigration authorities are seeking custody of an illegal alien charged with murder in Virginia.
The Fairfax County Police Department was alerted about a stabbing at a residence in Bailey’s Corner at around 9 p.m. on Sunday night.
Responding officers found a man suffering from multiple stabs wounds and immediately initiated life-saving measures.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives quickly identified a suspect: Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, 38, of no known address. Authorities believe he and the victim were known to each other.
A short time later, Chavarria Muy was located and arrested in Fairfax.
Chavarria Muy was charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
On Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed that Chavarria Muy is an illegal alien from Guatemala who slipped into the country at an unknown location and date.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against the Guatemalan, but it is unclear if it will be honored by officials in the sanctuary county.
“Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala, was charged with second degree murder after repeatedly stabbing a man to death in Fairfax County. ICE is calling on Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger and Virginia’s sanctuary politicians to not release this murderer back into our communities,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
“This incident comes just one month after an innocent woman was murdered by another criminal illegal alien at a bus stop in Spanberger’s state. Open-border policies yet again have caused another preventable tragedy.”
Stephanie Minter, a 41-year-old mother, was stabbed to death after exiting a public bus in Fairfax County on Feb. 23.
Abdul Jalloh, an illegal alien from Sierra Leone with a stunning criminal history in the U.S., was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
