More than 100 illegal aliens were caught driving tractor-trailers in California during a statewide enforcement surge this month.
A variety of federal agencies participated in Operation Highway Sentinel, including ICE, Homeland Security Investigations, FBI, IRS, and DEA.
Federal authorities targeted big rigs and logistics companies throughout the sanctuary state, which has issued thousands of Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs) to illegal aliens, many of whom were granted work authorization by the Biden regime.
“Southern California is home to the two busiest seaports in the United States — the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. As cargo moves from these ports across the nation, it is essential that those transporting it comply fully with the law to keep our roadways safe,” said HSI Los Angeles Special Agent in Charge Eddy Wang.
“Our operation has taken 101 drivers off the streets who should not have been behind the wheel, sending a clear message that violations of our laws and threats to public safety will not be tolerated.”
The drivers were identified as citizens of India, Mexico, Colombia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Russia, Georgia, Venezuela, El Salvador and Honduras — all of whom are now in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
Additionally, two foreign suspects were apprehended during roughly 800 inspections at major cargo ports in California.
“Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary state policies are costing American lives. His government knowingly issued thousands of CDLs to illegal aliens who had no business driving at all, let alone behind the wheel of a massive semi-truck,” said ICE Deputy Director Madison D. Sheahan.
“These drivers get their licenses, leave California, then terrorize roads all over the country. ICE is stepping in where his state failed. Just like our operations in Oklahoma and Indiana, we are taking these dangerous illegal alien truckers off the roads and making California streets safe again.”

On Dec. 11, Robert B. Pearson, a 29-year-old father of two young sons, was killed when his Mazda sedan was sandwiched between tractor-trailers as the driver behind him reportedly failed to stop on a highway in King County, WA.
Kamalpreet Singh, an illegal alien from India unleashed into the U.S. by the Biden regime in 2023, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and ordered held on $100,000 bail.
Officials in the sanctuary state ignored an ICE detainer after he posted bond — and it is currently unclear whether he will face any charges.
Juan Hernandez-Santos, a twice-deported criminal illegal alien accused of crashing a tractor-trailer into a school bus on I-5 in Washington earlier this month was back on the loose after authorities ignored a federal detainer request and set him free.
Last month, newlyweds William Micah Carter and Jennifer Lynn Lower were killed when Rajinder Kumar reportedly jackknifed his tractor-trailer across a highway in Deschutes County, OR.
Kumar, an illegal alien from India who was released into the U.S. by the Biden regime, was charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one count of recklessly endangering.
