Discussing President Trump’s tariff agenda during a recent episode of his Club Random podcast, comedian Bill Maher admitted the U.S. stock market is thriving after he previously thought the scheme was going to tank the American economy.
“That didn’t happen,” Maher said. “That’s reality. So, let’s work from the reality of that and not from, ‘I just hate Donald Trump,’ because that’s boring and doesn’t get us anywhere and leads you to dishonesty.”

Maher continued, “I don’t know what his strategy is. But, look, the stock market is at record highs. I know not everybody lives by the stock market, but I also drive around; I don’t see a country in a depression at all. I see people just out there living their lives. I would have thought, and I gotta own it, that these tariffs were going to fucking sink this economy by this time, and they didn’t. So, how do we deal with that fact? Because, that’s the fact.”
In another segment of the podcast, the comedian and television host slammed the modern left for refusing to even “break bread” with or sit at the same table as Trump supporters.
