An illegal alien from Honduras who was unleashed into the U.S. by the Biden regime has been charged with murdering his nephew in Florida, authorities say.

Samuel Antonio Maldonado-Erazo, 28, was arrested last week and charged with negligent manslaughter in connection with the death of the 3-year-old boy in Escambia County.

Months earlier, the child’s mother, Wendy Esther Hernandez Reyes, was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and subsequently removed from the U.S. on Jan. 26.

However, she declined to take her young son with her, reportedly leaving him in the care of Maldonado-Erazo instead.

On Mar. 5, a concerned individual called 911 when they witnessed the critically-injured boy going into cardiac arrest after Maldonado-Erazo brought him to his place of employment.

“Life-saving measures were attempted but unfortunately, he passed,” Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons explained in a public statement. “We learned that this young boy suffered extensive bruising about his body, to include 17 strikes to the head alone.”

“Additionally, there were several burn marks consistent with heating a lighter and then pressing that lighter against the skin. He had several broken ribs, one of which was detached from the backbone. He also had a transected pancreas, which is consistent with severe blunt-trauma. There was a broken collarbone and signs of possible sexual abuse.”

The child succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a local hospital.

ICE encountered Maldonado-Erazo at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Jail following his arrest and lodged an immigration detainer against him.

Maldonado-Erazo illegally entered the U.S. with his daughter in August 2021 and both were released into the interior, ICE explained in a press release.

His wife has also been arrested and their three children, two of whom are U.S. citizens, are in custody of the Florida Department of Child Services.

Maldonado-Erazo’s charges have been upgraded to felony murder and cruelty toward a child.

“This crime is absolutely sickening,” said ICE Director Todd M. Lyons. “This little boy suffered extensively and died when his mother abandoned him to Maldonado-Erazo’s ‘care’ — and Maldonado-Erazo himself is an illegal alien who never should’ve been in this country in the first place.”

“I encourage parents to self-deport with their children, but even if they choose not to do that, ICE gives them the opportunity to be removed with their kids. But despite that option, Reyes chose to leave her son here with a violent murderer who took his life.”
