The tragedy unfolded at around 11:25 a.m. on Sunday morning in Hammonton.
Two choppers reportedly struck each other in mid-air, causing them both to crash-land in a field near Hammonton Municipal Airport.
Witness footage shows one of the whirlybirds falling out of the sky.

“One aircraft was reported to be fully engulfed in flames, while the second went down in a wooded area, creating challenging conditions for emergency crews responding to the scene,” Channel 2 Now reports.
Both aircraft were reportedly occupied only by their pilots, one of whom did not survive. The other was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

“NTSB investigating Sunday’s inflight collision involving an Enstrom 280C helicopter and an Enstrom F-28A helicopter in Hammonton, New Jersey,” the National Transportation Safety Bureau announced on Sunday afternoon.
The NTSB and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash and more details are expected this week.
