A male suspect is facing a slew of charges after he allegedly impeded and pointed a gun at federal immigration officers in Minnesota last week, according to reports.

The disturbing incident unfolded on Monday morning in West St. Paul, which is located in the sanctuary jurisdiction of Dakota County.

The West St. Paul Police Department (WSP) was alerted about a man following federal agents and brandishing a firearm at around 10 a.m.

Officers encountered the suspect, identified as 62-year-old Thomas Edwin Edwards, and discovered a gun on the dash of his vehicle and took him into custody.

“We are aware that photos show West St. Paul squad cars near ICE vehicles as a result of this call. As a reminder, the West St. Paul PD is not involved in federal immigration initiatives. Officers and squad cars were on scene responding to the call about a man with a firearm,” WSP clarified in a statement following the arrest.

According to charging documents reviewed by Alpha News, Edwards began harassing and pursuing officers who were conducting surveillance in a Home Depot parking lot in a vehicle marked with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) insignias.

“Get the f**k out of here,” Edwards reportedly yelled at officers.

At some point, he “made a motion as if he was pulling a firearm from his waistband,” prompting an ICE officer to draw his own weapon.

“Agents told police that at one point Edwards had a firearm in his hand and was screaming, blowing his whistle, and driving erratically while following the agents. The agents reported being fearful due to the person’s actions because he was following them closely and aggressively,” Alpha News reports.

When WSP officers encountered Edwards, he was reportedly standing in front of his residence, yelling at ICE officers.

He reportedly told WSP he was “ready to f**king start fighting all of ya” and claimed he was prepared to shoot an ICE agent “because he was pointing a gun at me.”

Edwards was charged with obstructing legal process with force and four counts of misdemeanor fifth-degree assault and was later released after posting $6,000 bond.

His attorney, Claire Glenn, said Edwards is a Navy veteran and former U.S. Postal Service worker who “was entirely within his rights to observe and document what people were doing. And in retaliation, this charge was brought, even though it was the ICE agents that pointed their weapons at him.”

“ICE is essentially deputizing people that are kidnapping our neighbors and our community members,” she claimed.

Edwards plans to fight charges against him, Glenn said.

Illegal aliens and radical leftists become increasingly brazen in their resistance to immigration law enforcement.
