Journalist Breanna Morello broke the development Wednesday morning, saying:
A federal grand jury has indicted two individuals in connection with the assault on Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez during a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement protest in Minneapolis earlier this month.
The incident occurred during a Minnesota anti-ICE protest outside the Whipple Federal Building on April 11. Hernandez was physically assaulted while performing the duties of her job.
While two individuals were indicted by a grand jury, two more individuals may have also been involved in the incident.
Following the incident, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office told Morello that multiple individuals connected to the assault will be charged. The Sheriff’s PIO told her:
Yes – This is an active investigation. In total, 4 people will be charged from today’s protest. Three of them are tied to the assault of a journalist and a deputy. The fourth is charged with gross misdemeanor obstruction with force against a deputy.
On April 12, directly after the incident, Morello’s news outlet Independent Newsroom reported “The suspects—Paige, DeYanna, and Chris Ostroushko—are among four people expected to be charged in connection with the day’s protest-related incidents. Three of the four face charges tied to the assault on both the journalist and a deputy, while the fourth is accused of gross misdemeanor obstruction with force against a deputy.”
