The FBI working with the Pima County sheriff’s office on Tuesday released photos of the suspect in the kidnapping of Today show host Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother Nancy after she was abducted from her home ten days ago and believed to be held for ransom.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices,” FBI Director Kash Patel stated in an update on X Tuesday. “The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”

“Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”

Black and white images from Guthrie’s Nest doorbell camera two Sundays ago show a person assumed to be a man wearing a backpack, a balaclava and gloves arriving at the home’s front door and appearing to tamper with the camera.

Video provided by the FBI also shows the suspect approach the front door camera then block it with his hand when he suddenly observes it, before walking to the front yard and picking weeds to obscure the camera’s view.

The photos come as a critical Monday 5 p.m. deadline set by the kidnappers lapsed, with no further communication established from the perpetrators believed to have abducted Nancy after a ransom note had reportedly requested $6 million in Bitcoin.

On Monday as the deadline approached, Guthrie filmed a second plea asking the public to help find her mother – who she believes is still alive – saying her family was in an “hour of desperation.”
